Photographer Tips on: Photographing Newborns for Composites

celebrating_savannah27 Hi, I’m Sarah, owner/photographer at Sarah Branaghan Photography located in Cleveland, OH.
I specialize in Newborn Photography and I believe in simple and organic portraits of your brand new baby.
I absolutely love photographing newborns. They are only tiny once and I’m so happy to capture those little moments and details of them. I love all of the creativity that goes into a newborn session.

As I mentioned, I love photographing newborns. I love doing composites and have a few tips for you!

Safety is always first: I always have a spotter when my babies are in props. I don’t have an assistant, so I use mom or dad. 2016-07-11_0001 Make sure to correctly expose your image: I find that sometimes saving the composite image on my card is helpful. That way I can go back and see what it was like when I did the indoor part of the session. 2016-06-02_0002 Don’t use auto white balance: I like to use Kelvin white balance so you can give the images the same look. 2016-07-11_0002 Shoot a few stops from wide open: I normally shoot my newborn sessions at a 2.8. But when I do composites, I usually shoot a 4 f-stop. BP4U_Freebie_Ad
