Question from Tera: “Ok, so I have been asked to be a photographer for a 8 yr old girls bday party where mom is making a “instant photo booth” and she asked what I would charge? I don’t have a clue what would be appropriate. She is wanting to find an old poloroid camera to use, as well as me to use my own camera to put all photos on a disc. Any suggestions on what to charge? I would be there for an hour, on a Saturday.”

Suz:  does she want the CD or prints? I would charge a session fee + hourly fee. don’t forget time to set up and take down is consider time. then from there see if she wants the CD/prints and go from there.

Dena: Plus cost of the polaroid & instant film (not cheap).

Emma:  I would suggest setting up an iPad with one of these apps: http://appadvice.com/applists/show/photo-booth-apps. No film to buy and they can take as many pics as they like. Everything can be downloaded and shared instantly. As far as pricing I’d charge as much as your normal portrait session, plus $X/hr after 3 hrs.

Dena: For weddings, I offer a photo booth for $400. That includes set up (backdrop stand 8ft high with white background), a box of props & the images on a disc. They take minor editing/cropping, so it’s no biggie processing them (for me).

Tabitha:  I charge $65 an hour with about 80 edited images on a CD.

Jen: Charge what your comfortable. Hourly rate or what ever you see fit. I charge hourly rate and then additional amounts for every photo over 30 edited and taken. Think about how much time you need to spend editing and how much your time is worth and then go from there. Don’t short sell yourself

Christy: I charge $150 per hour, two hour min, includes color and density adjusted images.
