Capturing What’s Important

The way I capture my own family is different from how I would shoot a client’s session. When I look back in 30 years on our family photo’s I want to remember our every day life… not that our kids sat still and smiled big for our yearly photo. Yes, I love having a few of those posed shots too but what I love more is capturing my children in their element. I want to be taken back to these memories and truly remember their different stages of childhood.

How my youngest daughter would look out the window watching and waiting for our dog to go to the bathroom.

How she was mesmerized by the dandelion pouf she found on our walk one day…

… and how intently she examined that new found wonder.

I want to remember how she presses her little hand up against her playpen when she wakes from her nap…

… and that beloved soother.

I want to remember how she didn’t quite like the idea of getting all wet, but was perfectly happy to stand back and play in the stream of water.

I want to remember these days. As dirty and messy as they can be, it’s part of their story.
