6 Ways To Market Your Personal Branding Photography Sessions

Today we are talking all about how to market your personal branding photography sessions! Not sure what personal branding sessions are?  Personal branding photography is an opportunity for business owners and entrepreneurs to get photos taken that will showcase their brand, their business and their personality. These types of sessions are a great niche for photographers to start offering because the possibilities are endless! Every business owner needs images for their marketing materials, branding and website.

6 Ways To Market Your Personal Branding Sessions

1. Email local business owners in your area:

Email the owners and say hello and let them know more about your business and personal branding sessions. Make sure to include your personal branding welcome guide as PDF in the email or include a link to your personal branding welcome guide in the email.

Step 1  | Step 2

We suggest printing our welcome packets through Magcloud. There is no minimum order you have to place and they are VERY reasonable!

You need to stay on the radar and contact ANY new business that opens up around you! Get your foot in the door right away! Here’s something you could send to them via email/Facebook message.

Subject: We love your (insert company/product/service)

Hi (insert business name/business owner name):

I am a huge fan of your (insert company/product/service)!  We are a photography business in the area and just wanted to introduce ourselves. We would love the opportunity to work together sometime. Please let us know if there is any photography service we can help you with. We love doing shoots for promotional materials, social media and/or to freshen up your website! You can check out more of our personal branding sessions here (link to those specific sessions). We have a packet that goes over tips and commonly asked questions about this type of photography. Let us know if you would like for us to send it over. Either way, we wish you nothing but tons of success in (insert your area)!

Best wishes,

Don’t have a Personal Branding Welcome Guide? Don’t worry we have you covered! This Personal Branding Magazine Welcome Packet Template and Personal Branding Session Planning Guide is an absolute must-buy. Not sure what to say? No problem! We have even included sample text in the guide so all you need to do is change out your studio name and basic information. We have taken care of the rest for you!

2. Reach out to those you know already that have a product or service they sell.

This seems like a no brainer but chances are… you can go on your Facebook page right now and tell me 20 people who sell clothing, jewelry, makeup, candles, skin care lines, oils and the list goes on and on! Right? You literally thought of a ton of people when I mentioned those things right? Well, these are also people you can email or message! Not just the ones with brick and mortar storefronts! So don’t leave this group out of the mix.

If they do not respond back, do not keep messaging them. Chances are these are people you are actually already familiar with. The goal is not to “sell” them, it’s to “inform” them. Be helpful, set yourself up as the photography professional – that way even if they don’t need your services now, later on, they know they can reach out to you with questions.

You can send the same email as before but just change it up a bit.

3. Visit local businesses in your area

Nothing better than the old school way. Visit local businesses in your area and introduce yourself and give the business owner a copy of your printed personal branding welcome guide. If these are new sessions you’re offering and you have to drop it off or the owner isn’t available, attach a coupon or incentive to the welcome packet and leave with the front desk.

4. Mail a copy of a printed personal branding welcome guide to local businesses in your area.

This next one can be a bit more time consuming but we suggest mailing a copy of your welcome packet to local businesses in your area. Also include a letter along with the guide so you can introduce yourself and tell them more about your business. You can also leave some copies at your local chamber of commerce or see if they have the ability to email it out.

This is a great service to offer small businesses and they might do that for you in exchange of images they need perhaps of the town or chamber meetings. Again, we suggest using an incentive if you’re trying to build up this niche of photography. If they book their personal branding session by this date, they get this off. Something that is going to give a sense of urgency.

5. Reach out to vendors you’ve already worked with in the past!

Wedding photographers! I’m talking specifically to you, although this can work with a lot of different photography niches. If you’ve worked with DJ’s, event planners, lighting specialists, hair and makeup artists, videographers, florists and cake designers in the past – you already have a foot in the door! Reach out to them and let them know about your new personal branding sessions! These vendors love photographs of their work but I bet they don’t have any behind the scene images of them actually doing it! This is where you come in!

6. Attend local networking groups in your area.

You will have the chance to talk to many business owners at the networking group. Pass out a copy of your printed personal branding welcome guide to the business owners that are at the networking group. Think of this as a supercharged business card. You’re giving them all the information right there and telling them how they can use this session for their business!

This is a really great niche for photographers and I know you’re going to do SO amazing! Have any other ideas on how to market personal branding sessions? Share with us in the comments!
