7 Ways To Market Your Photography Business {Mom Edition}

I was thinking of different ideas the other day and then it hit me. There are a ton of ways momtogs can get in on the action of marketing their photography business without even having to do that much. Not having to do that much you might ask? Yes, because more than likely these are places you’re already going to and what’s always in your hand? Your camera. Read on to see some ideas!

 

1) Chaperone different school events and take photos.

Events include field trips, sporting events, recitals, dances, academic competitions, spelling bees, etc. Check the school calendar to find out what events your child’s school is hosting and find out ways you can help. Offer to bring along your camera and take photos for the school’s weekly newsletter or yearbook.

 

 

2) Get involved with your PTA.

Use this as a sort of Chamber of Commerce, if you will, to gain exposure and to let local moms know who you are and what you’re about. This group is connected to many other parents and if you can get in good with them, you can start getting fantastic word of mouth rolling.

 

3) Use your child’s daycare.

Offer to take photos at any events they have or pass out flyers in their welcome packets. Offer to come in and do back to school sessions at the daycare.

 

4) Reach out to people teach music lessons and dance classes. 

These are great people to connect with to help spread the word about your business. Maybe offer to do free head shots or some photos of a lesson for them to use on their website or in their own advertisements.

 

5) Advertise at gyms where people go for indoor training.

A lot of parents who have kids that are in sports will send them to private training sessions at gyms or athletic clubs. Network with these places and ask to hang flyers or leave welcome packets in their common area for potential clients to see.

 

6) Do a business swap with tutoring companies.

Offer free head shots or images for their company website in exchange for photography referrals to their clients.

 

7) Use every one of your child’s social events as a marketing opportunity.

If your child gets invited to a party, take your camera and ask the parents if you can take photos for them. This will open up conversation that you’re a family photographer and they will share these on all their social media sites, which will give you free advertising.
