Tips on How to Achieve Different Boudoir Images in a Small Studio Setting

Shooting boudoir in a small studio setting can be difficult; however, not impossible! Jasmin from Sugar & Lace Boudoir / Glamour Studio has some tips to heDisplaying DSC_7584.jpglp create many different looks, in a small space. Simple instructions on how to look, hold your hands, and what to do with your hair are crucial in obtaining multiple looks! In the picture above, I had the client standing in front of a window. I diffused the window light with curtains to make it softer. I had a silver reflector in front of her to reflect light back onto her body and to give some light in her eyes. For the left photo I told her to put her arms over her head, one hand holding her other wrist, and to arch her back. In the photo on the right, I had her put her wrists together, softly touching her neck and cheek. I was able to obtain more than one look in the same setting by having her pose differently and by taking a photo of her whole body, and then one closer. Small details like that can make a totally new image!  jasminpickens_004

I always try to make Boudoir look a little bit like Glamour . So, for this shot, I had the client sitting in front of a painted muslin backdrop on two posing boxes. I told her to lift her legs up, and throw her hair over her head for a more dramatic look. The light came from the window in front of her. I had two black V-flats to either side of her to give the shadows more depth. jasminpickens_003

For this pose, I had the client laying on a bed on her back. I told her to arch her back as much as she could. I asked her to pose her hands over her head, to turn her head, and look at me. You can create multiple images from this pose! A close up will create an image like this one, though a full body shot is also beautiful. You can also create a photo like the one below by taking a photo of just her body. jasminpickens005

For this image, like the last, I asked her to arch her back as much as possible. (The more extreme the better) and I told her to grab her pants and to slowly pull them down.  jasminpickens_007

This is one of my favorite things to do at a boudoir session! I had my client stand in front of a wall in my studio. The light came from the window in front of her. I had a fan blowing wind for movement in her hair, and I simply asked her to touch her body, and to stare into the camera. (You can also have her look at her hands going up and down her body.) To achieve the pose on the right, I told her to arch her back and throw her head back a little.
