Julie is a Wedding and Lifestyle photographer based in North Florida but travels worldwide.  She is a wife, mom of two and a teacher.  Julie has been published in several blogs and publications and is recognized for her dreamy, romantic style.
 
Julie Paisley, Photographer behind Julie Paisley Photography Well, I’m southern through and through!  I love the color peach, I’m obsessed with burlap and lace and cupcakes are my fav!!!  I love to read, I have an addiction to magazines and pinterest.  Anthro is my favorite store in the whole wide world and I treat myself to a new coach purse every season! 🙂  I LOVE to laugh and have fun!  My family and friends are the most important things in my life and if I meet you, you can be guaranteed that I will give you a hug! 🙂
When did you first realize you wanted to be a photographer? It actually just happened for me.  I never intended to be a “photographer”.  I just started playing and shooting for family and friends and it went from there!

How would you describe your style? Dreamy, Romantic and Real!

What’s in your gear bag? Cameras – Nikon D3s, Nikon D3

Lenses – 35 1.4g, 85 1.4g, 105 2.8g, 135 2.0g, 70-200 2.8

One lens you can’t live without?35 1.4g

 How did know when the right time to start charging was? Haha…the hubby made that decision for me!  I was teaching during the day and shooting 3-4 times a week!  He said, “charge or quit!” 🙂  Bride and groom posing outside for Julie Paisley Photography

 How much did you charge for your first session and how much are you charging for the same type of session now? $50 and I included the CD.  Now, I charge a $250 session fee and my packages range from $400-$800

 How did you market yourself when you started out? Facebook and word of mouth!

Did you go to school for photography or were you self- taught? No formal school.  Self-taught and workshops!  I learned so much from attending workshops!
What has been some of the hardest things to overcome in your business?What people thought of me, dealing with mean people, and balance of business and personal life!
Do you have any tips for photographers just starting out?Yes, practice, practice, practice!!!

If for some reason you couldn’t be a photographer what do you think you would be?Well, I was teacher first, so I would go back to teaching! 🙂

What’s the best lesson in photography that you’ve learned so far? Shoot what makes YOU happy!

What are your thoughts on pricing?I feel that most photographer price themselves so low because they don’t value themselves!  We need to change our thinking!  You and your time is  worth it!
